My interest in drones began in 1991.  I started building a "flying thing" - a camera mounted to a four-motor flying platform to photograph my house.  Then I moved on to customizing them to handle what I wanted to do.  It wasn't long before I understood the potential these 'toys' had to help in so many aspects of life.  I was officially a fan. But it took quite a few years until they finally earned their position as tools to make our lives  safer and easier.
